Job Overview

This freelance role involves providing professional interpretation and translation services remotely or nationwide across the United Kingdom. Join a network of certified linguists delivering accurate communication for sectors including business, medical, legal, and conferences. Assignments can be in-person or virtual, with opportunities in various languages and specialisms such as spoken language, British Sign Language, or written translation.

Responsibilities

• Provide consecutive, simultaneous, or liaison interpretation for settings like medical appointments, legal hearings, business meetings, and conferences.
• Deliver accurate and impartial interpretation, maintaining the original message’s integrity.
• Attend in-person assignments across the UK or provide remote interpretation via telephone or video.
• Prepare for specialist assignments by researching relevant terminology and subject matter.
• Produce accurate written translations of documents, correspondence, reports, and other materials.
• Ensure translated content is culturally appropriate, grammatically correct, and faithful to the original.
• Meet deadlines and communicate with the coordination team.
• Uphold confidentiality, impartiality, accuracy, punctuality, and professional conduct in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and at least one other language.
• Formal qualifications in interpretation or translation.
• Professional experience in interpretation or translation services.
• Adherence to professional standards from bodies like the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) or National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI).
• Strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and excellence.
