Job Overview

This fixed-term role supports the kitchen team in a remote mining project camp, focusing on maintaining hygiene, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring efficient meal services for a 6-month period on a 29/13 rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment, and facilities to sanitation and hygiene standards, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing after meals.
  • Clean freezers, refrigerators, remove rubbish, and organize storage areas.
  • Wash, sanitize, dry, and store cutlery, crockery, pots, and pans, maintaining proper water temperatures and chemical levels.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks like chopping vegetables, washing fruit, defrosting meat, and preparing simple dishes such as salads.
  • Organize and maintain refrigerator and freezer stock rotation.
  • Ensure appliances and equipment are used correctly and report faults or safety concerns.
  • Conduct stock checks, maintain inventory of supplies, and assist in remote kitchen operations during drilling programs.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Basic education (Grade 10 or similar).
  • Food safety knowledge or awareness.
  • Experience working in remote field-based locations, preferably on a roster.
