Support a Government of Canada customer in Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) capability development and acquisition planning. Provide analytical and technical support at the intersection of technology, intelligence, and defence procurement. Translate complex technical data into actionable intelligence for senior decision-makers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct continuous open-source monitoring of global CUAS technology developments, vendor activity, and operational deployments.
- Track emerging UAS threats, counter-UAS defeat mechanisms, and related tactical, technical, and procedural evolutions.
- Identify and assess cybersecurity risks associated with CUAS vendors and platform architectures.
- Monitor regulatory and policy developments affecting CUAS procurement and employment in Canada and allied nations.
- Author quarterly CUAS Market Watch reports synthesizing technology trends, vendor landscape shifts, incident analysis, and acquisition implications.
- Produce targeted analytical products responding to specific customer priorities such as LCEI comparisons, kinetic vs. non-kinetic defeat mechanisms, and vendor capability assessments.
- Apply technical expertise to evaluate system specifications, performance parameters, and suitability for operational employment.
- Support optional stakeholder briefings summarizing key findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the customer’s technical authority to understand and refine analytical priorities.
- Respond to ad hoc analytical requests in support of acquisition planning and operational decision-making.
- Attend periodic coordination meetings with leadership and customer stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance.
- Canadian citizenship required.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- English required; French considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Defence Studies, Political Science, or a related technical or analytical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in a technical, intelligence, or defence-related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting open-source research and producing analytical reports for government or defence customers.
- Working knowledge of UAS systems, CUAS technologies, or related defence electronics.
- Familiarity with defence procurement processes, capability development frameworks, or acquisition planning.
- Experience working within or alongside the Canadian Armed Forces, DND, or an allied defence organization is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in open-source intelligence (OSINT) methodologies and research tools.
- Ability to assess technical specifications and compare system capabilities across vendor offerings.
- Strong analytical and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise reports for non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity considerations relevant to networked defence systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in CUAS operations, electronic warfare, or signals intelligence.
- Familiarity with NATO STANAG standards, Canadian procurement policy (PSPC, DND CACP), or allied CUAS acquisition programs.
- Prior experience supporting CANSOF, RCAF, or Special Operations Forces community stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant export control regimes (ITAR, EAR, Canadian Export Controls).
