This role supports the product team by handling data analysis, reporting, and comparative tasks in a fully remote position within the insurance industry. It involves quantitative analysis, problem-solving, and using data tools to assist managers and executives.
Responsibilities
- Obtain data and reports from policy and claims systems using reporting tools or SQL for ad hoc reports.
- Organize and process data into formats for managers.
- Extract competitor information for comparative analyses and rate comparisons.
- Complete template-based analyses like monthly reports and rate indications.
- Compare competitor policy forms and create business requirements for IT revisions.
- Research operational problems, edit rule manuals, and document business processes.
- Prepare and submit SERFF filings and execute user acceptance testing.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and miscellaneous support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative discipline like math, physics, finance, or economics; or five-plus years of demonstrated high-level experience.
- Proficiency with MS Excel (lookups, complex formulae, if/then/else logic, data scrubbing), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Desired proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio, Cloverleaf, Power BI, VBA, or Snowflake.
- User-level proficiency with internal BI or MI applications.
- Understanding of pricing and segmentation theory, including rate adequacy, adverse selection, pure premium relativity, and eligibility.
- Profound knowledge of rating calculation formulae, variables, and factor tables.
- Working knowledge of comparative rater processes and key competitors.
- Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
