Job Overview

Lead the Business Intelligence function by setting technical direction in data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics. Serve as a people leader and strategic partner to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, blending hands-on technical leadership with business partnership to deliver trusted insights and scalable reporting that drive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex analysis and troubleshooting for databases and data quality, including reconciling deltas, missing data, and period-over-period validation.
  • Design, develop, and support database objects like tables, views, functions, stored procedures, and indexes, emphasizing reliability and maintainability.
  • Apply modern warehousing concepts such as Kimball, star schemas, and data marts to deliver governed, reusable datasets.
  • Build and troubleshoot connectivity patterns including linked servers, ODBC, remote SQL Server connections, and PostgreSQL connectivity.
  • Establish performance tuning standards for indexing, query optimization, partitioning, and monitoring practices.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery practices, including backup/restore strategies and recovery models.
  • Lead Power BI efforts in semantic model design, DAX proficiency, report development, and service administration.
  • Build and support SSRS paginated reports end-to-end, including datasets and SQL artifacts.
  • Design and support data integrations using SSIS or comparable platforms, and operationalize API-based data sources.
  • Serve as a strategic partner by translating business questions into analytics solutions and communicating insights to executive leadership.
  • Lead requirements discovery sessions to identify key data points, KPIs, trends, and decision workflows.
  • Frame and present performance narratives using period-based analysis and planning concepts in partnership with Finance/FP&A.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in the Microsoft SQL Server ecosystem, including SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI, and SSRS.
  • Experience with data quality practices and tooling.
  • Familiarity with HA/DR practices like log shipping, failover clusters, and availability groups.
  • Proficiency in DAX for Power BI and SSRS report development.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools such as Alteryx, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, or Celigo.
  • Experience with API consumption using Postman, SSIS, or Python.
  • Understanding of data from core enterprise platforms like Salesforce CRM and NetSuite ERP.
