Senior Principal Systems Architect

This role supports the federal Indian Health Service (IHS) Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization program by managing enterprise healthcare architecture, identity and access management, and related efforts to ensure program success. The position involves partnering with infrastructure, cloud hosting, and cybersecurity teams, developing architectural artifacts, and maintaining knowledge of evolving technologies.
Responsibilities
- Bring deep knowledge of enterprise healthcare architecture, usability/interface, and identity and access management concepts.
- Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud Hosting, Cybersecurity teams on intersecting focus areas.
- Develop comprehensive architectural artifacts, visualizations, and narratives for logical, physical, data, and network schemas.
- Develop architectural artifacts reflecting healthcare-related workflows.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity to align with NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, PPSM, and agency policies; collect artifacts for ATO approvals.
- Work closely with Configuration Management and Change Management teams.
- Participate in cross-functional teams implementing new or emerging vendor capabilities or greenfield initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and evolve current processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of experience supporting medium-to-large IT projects.
- Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud environment (OCI preferred).
- Experience with large, federal programs and/or contracts.
- Experience creating high-quality, comprehensive diagrams using Visio, Draw.io, or similar tools.
- Training/education/experience in task coordination; functional knowledge of IT project management concepts and tools.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance, including background investigation and fingerprinting.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the year, if needed.
