Job Overview

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is a key role within the Finance team, responsible for managing the full A/R lifecycle with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and process improvements. This position involves owning A/R processes, leading reporting and collections, and collaborating across departments to support financial operations and strategic growth in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of the Accounts Receivable function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all A/R processes.
  • Refine and enforce A/R policies, procedures, and internal controls, developing new ones as needed.
  • Lead A/R reporting, including aging, cash forecasting, and KPI tracking with insights for leadership.
  • Partner with Finance leadership on revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and month-end close activities.
  • Oversee daily deposit recording from various sources like Shopify, Stripe, and wire transfers, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation.
  • Manage complex intercompany A/R transactions and journal entries.
  • Ensure VAT requirements and other regulatory considerations are applied.
  • Lead collections strategy, including prioritization, escalation, and risk assessments for delinquent accounts.
  • Build and maintain dashboards to monitor collection performance and aging trends.
  • Act as liaison between Finance, Student Support, Sales, and external payment providers.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Sales on order structure and client account adjustments.
  • Approve complex client payment and scheduling adjustments based on analysis.
  • Participate in automation initiatives and system integrations to streamline A/R workflows.
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose solutions to improve accuracy and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in Accounts Receivable processes and financial operations.
  • Strong analytical judgment and ability to drive process improvements.
  • Experience with A/R reporting, cash forecasting, and KPI tracking.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and regulatory compliance including VAT.
  • Proficiency in managing deposits, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Skills in collections strategy, risk assessment, and dashboard creation.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and provide strategic guidance.
  • Experience with automation and system integrations for financial workflows.
