Job Overview

The Area Operations Manager implements strategic direction for cleaning operations, ensuring an engaged team culture that aligns with organizational vision and values. This field-based role focuses on leadership, operational excellence, and compliance in a national scope.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cleaning teams to foster a positive, motivational working environment and ensure advanced planning of operations with clear schedules.
  • Focus on training and development to establish good working practices and excellence in cleaning standards, security, health and safety compliance.
  • Provide professional support in service-related matters, suggest initiatives for continuous improvement, and manage cleaning feedback or complaints to resolution.
  • Control colleague rosters, manage absence and holiday records, organize non-agency cover, and conduct monthly audits for cleanliness and safety.
  • Manage recruitment, induction training, development, and retention of colleagues; ensure adherence to KPIs/SLAs and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Lead and support direct reports, forward plan staffing with senior teams, scale services during peaks, and conduct annual job chats.
  • Manage operational budgets with transparency, including forecasts, and ensure compliance with Data Protection Act and GDPR.

Qualifications

  • DSB Cleared.
  • Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent.
  • IOSH or equivalent certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proven experience in operational management and developing others.
  • Ability to have difficult conversations and demonstrate high personal standards.
  • Innovative, creative, and organized.
