It combines strategic thinking with tactical execution, owning the growth strategy and managing the pursuit process from opportunity identification through contract award in a small business environment.
Responsibilities
- Own growth strategy across service offerings and geographic focus areas.
- Identify, qualify, and shape strategic opportunities by building relationships with government stakeholders, primes, and key partners.
- Maintain a curated pipeline focused on strategic fit, realistic win probability, and work-share opportunities.
- Provide insight on market and competitive trends, adjusting strategies for disruptive forces in defense contracting.
- Lead end-to-end capture for priority pursuits.
- Build and sustain high-trust relationships across the defense community.
- Negotiate teaming agreements and recommend pursuit decisions based on work share, feasibility, risk, and alignment.
- Provide clear updates on pipeline and efforts, aligning with operations and HR.
- Represent the company in strategic engagements across Asia, Europe, and CONUS, expanding networks.
Qualifications
- Successful subcontract capture with established defense primes and ability to expand into emerging markets using non-traditional approaches.
- Strong understanding of how small and mid-sized firms compete under prime subcontract structures.
- Existing trusted relationships across the defense contracting ecosystem.
- Familiarity with overseas contracting constraints, including personnel deployment, clearance, and host-nation considerations.
- Fluency with DoD acquisition processes.
- Clear, strategic communicator able to articulate value at the executive level.
