Job Overview

This role involves leading commercial evaluations for strategic business opportunities in therapeutic areas, supporting the VP of Business Development in due diligence processes to drive growth in biopharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial analyses and evaluations, preparing summaries and presentations for senior management on product acquisitions or mergers.
  • Scout, monitor, and evaluate competing companies and news impacting business cases.
  • Analyze market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities.
  • Conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of business development opportunities.
  • Lead primary and secondary market research for business development.
  • Mentor and manage team members as needed.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Commercial, Market Access, Sales, Research, Clinical, Finance, and Legal.
  • Establish networks for market intelligence and business transformation opportunities.
  • Attend external partnering and life science conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years’ experience, Master’s degree (ideally MBA) with 4+ years’ experience, or PhD with 2+ years’ experience in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Neurology, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or commercial strategy).
  • Experience in life sciences, medical, or health care industry.
  • In-depth experience with competitive intelligence.
  • Strong knowledge of disease areas (Respiratory, Inflammation, Immunology, CNS/rare), drug development, and commercial processes.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial forecasting, market access, pricing, launch requirements, and epidemiology data.
  • Advanced business and commercial acumen, including forecasting and modeling.
  • Experience in matrixed team environments with effective collaboration.
  • Ability to partner with internal SMEs to develop due diligence findings.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and influencing groups.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
