Job Overview

This role involves managing financial operations in a remote setting, focusing on period closes, reconciliations, and compliance to support decision-making in a growing software company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial period close tasks and complex journal entries/accounting analysis
  • Conduct Balance Sheet analysis and reviews, including reconciliations of accounts
  • Record day-to-day AP and AR data, including invoices and credit notes
  • Ensure timely entry and issuance of invoices in the ERP system
  • Follow up with vendors/suppliers on missing invoices and manage cost accruals for P&L review
  • Process payments, bank transfers, and ensure adequate approvals
  • Reconcile expense reports, credit cards, invoices, and inter-company transactions
  • Implement key controls and procedures as needed
  • Prepare financial KPIs and review for accuracy
  • Prepare monthly VAT returns in compliance with government legislation
  • Participate in audit engagements and compliance requirements
  • Provide information to tax advisors and respond to queries
  • Prepare ad-hoc performance analysis and management reporting
  • Perform variance analysis of actual results vs. financial plans

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Financial Accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (highly desirable)
  • Professional level German (B1 or above), both written and verbal
  • Professional qualification in bookkeeping and/or accounting (asset)
  • Expertise in accrual accounting theory and practice (asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
  • Curious mindset for learning new systems and professional growth
  • Innovative thinker passionate about automation and efficiency
  • Team player with strong work ethic, organization, and interpersonal skills
