This role involves managing financial operations in a remote setting, focusing on period closes, reconciliations, and compliance to support decision-making in a growing software company.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial period close tasks and complex journal entries/accounting analysis
- Conduct Balance Sheet analysis and reviews, including reconciliations of accounts
- Record day-to-day AP and AR data, including invoices and credit notes
- Ensure timely entry and issuance of invoices in the ERP system
- Follow up with vendors/suppliers on missing invoices and manage cost accruals for P&L review
- Process payments, bank transfers, and ensure adequate approvals
- Reconcile expense reports, credit cards, invoices, and inter-company transactions
- Implement key controls and procedures as needed
- Prepare financial KPIs and review for accuracy
- Prepare monthly VAT returns in compliance with government legislation
- Participate in audit engagements and compliance requirements
- Provide information to tax advisors and respond to queries
- Prepare ad-hoc performance analysis and management reporting
- Perform variance analysis of actual results vs. financial plans
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Financial Accounting role
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (highly desirable)
- Professional level German (B1 or above), both written and verbal
- Professional qualification in bookkeeping and/or accounting (asset)
- Expertise in accrual accounting theory and practice (asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Detail-oriented self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
- Curious mindset for learning new systems and professional growth
