Job Overview

This role involves leading hydrogeologic and water resource projects, engaging with clients, and mentoring junior staff in a fully remote position supporting projects across the Midwestern and Western United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hydrogeologic and water resource projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Negotiate and review contracts in collaboration with the Regional Director.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Solve complex technical problems individually and collaboratively.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with public, private, and industrial clients.
  • Lead or support the preparation of proposals and scopes of work.
  • Identify and pursue strategic business opportunities and new markets.
  • Help clients define problems, evaluate options, and implement tailored, data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with the South-Central team to expand regional presence.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality control for deliverables prepared by junior staff.
  • Offer coaching and regular feedback to support career development and skill-building.
  • Identify and create growth opportunities for team members.
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
  • Support onboarding and integration of new hires.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in hydrogeology and/or water resources.
  • A Professional Geologist (PG) certification, or a Professional Engineer (PE) or desire/ability to obtain certification in the state(s) worked.
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or hydrogeology (or related field).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with tools such as MODFLOW, Leapfrog Works, AqteSolv, ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Python, and/or database software.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Experience with groundwater resource evaluations, high-capacity well sitting, wellfield design, and hydrogeologic investigations.
  • Existing client relationships and experience in business development preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
