Social Media and Communications Specialist

This part-time role supports communications efforts by creating and distributing engaging content across multiple channels, including social media, online communities, and emails. It focuses on growing audience engagement, promoting programs and events, and advancing the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Support social media strategy to grow audience, increase engagement, strengthen brand awareness, and execute campaigns in collaboration with team members.
- Optimize and engage with the online community forum to cultivate discussions, increase member value, and drive interest in products and events.
- Own content calendars for social media and online forum in coordination with the manager.
- Support copy development and editing for marketing and communications projects.
- Monitor and report basic engagement metrics across social and community channels.
- Serve as backup for email builds and production.
- Support other organizational communications initiatives as applicable.
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Excellent internal and external communication skills (written and oral).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices.
- Experience executing successful organic social media campaigns.
- Experience publishing and scheduling social media content using organic methods and third-party tools.
- Basic design skills using software such as Adobe Express or Canva.
- Familiarity with AP and Chicago style.
- Proven skills in project management, content development, social engagement, public relations, audience development, and cross-channel campaigns.
- Strong decision-making and analytical competency.
- Proactive, solutions-based approach to problem-solving.
- Collaborative multitasker with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, Mailchimp) preferred.
- Familiarity with HTML, Google Analytics, SEO/SEM, UX/UI, email, and website content management systems preferred.
- Association/nonprofit and/or regulatory/health-science experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
