Job Overview

The role involves creating and managing technical documentation for construction projects, translating complex information into accessible narratives for non-technical audiences, and supporting business development through compelling proposal content. This position is remote and focuses on enhancing organizational standards in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational requirements and standards.
  • Gain deep understanding of general contracting services and translate complex information into technical narratives.
  • Write user-friendly technical content for non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and maintain technical construction narratives by scope/services as reference material.
  • Evaluate current content/process and develop methods for improving technical narratives.
  • Write compelling proposal technical approaches presenting win themes, differentiators, and execution details.
  • Research, outline, write, and edit technical construction content, collaborating with Business Development, Proposal, Estimating, Scheduling, Safety, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Gather technical information from subject-matter experts and develop narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Work with Business Development and Proposal leads to identify documentation repositories, revise, edit, and determine data compilation solutions.
  • Research, create, and maintain technical construction information and narrative templates for data migration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Four-year technical degree or a BA in English or Journalism, or at least five or more years of experience as an effective technical writer in program/project management, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Ability to read construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences.
  • Superb written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience working with business development, project or construction managers, and engineers to refine content.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
