Job Overview

The role involves finding, closing, and managing strategic customer accounts and broker/consultant channels in the energy sector, focusing on selling electricity and renewables solutions to commercial and industrial customers. Responsibilities

  • Prospect for and develop new customer relationships
  • Manage an existing portfolio of customer relationships
  • Seek opportunities to develop new broker relationships
  • Manage portfolios represented by existing brokers
  • Develop and retain relationships with large consulting companies
  • Develop strategies for successful sales to the segment
  • Negotiate and close profitable deals with customers
  • Deliver new annual gross margin of between $4 and $8 million
  • Own and manage overall relationship and deal implementation with customers
  • Coordinate with Sales Support, Pricing, Credit, Trading, legal, and other internal teams
  • Manage and prioritize a complex and large pipeline
  • Monitor and assess a changing regulatory environment
  • Understand the risk and rewards of various deal structures
  • Interface productively with a deal team
  • Leverage existing relationships for further value
  • Hand lower value opportunities to junior Business Development Managers
  • Decline non-value accretive customers and products

Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant commensurate experience
  • 7+ years of experience in US deregulated electricity markets (ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, and/or CAISO)
  • In-depth knowledge of electricity and renewable energy markets, wholesale and retail product structures
  • Experience selling and working knowledge of energy and related services (wind, solar, onsite generation, demand response, energy efficiencies, etc.)
  • Clear history of delivering strategic commercial value with little assistance from management
  • Ability to present integrative solutions to customers
  • Current understanding of market regulations, emerging technologies, and market trends in US electricity
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, analytical, time management, and written and oral communication skills
  • Commercial mindset and problem-solving abilities
